Hi! I’m Sarah.

Welcome to LACK+LUSTER, a place where I document my take on the most dynamic art there is… Fashion.

Juxtaposition 1.0

I don’t know about you, but i strongly think opposites attract—especially in terms of fashion. Juxtaposition has been one of my favorite ways to style an outfit. Combining garments that are of completely different patterns, textures or in this case, styles, may seem like they won’t work together, but it can. All it takes is just some curiosity, so be curious and don’t be afraid to try new things! Opposition in an outfit catches the eye and it’s simply just more fun. Therefore, you’ll be seeing it a lot from me.

But first, I thought I’d start out with an outfit that has subtle juxtaposition. Im wearing a long white button-up that would normally be paired with dressier shoes and a cardigan, but decided to throw on the most casual grey sneakers and hoodie instead. The combination of a classic/chic top with a casual pullover and sporty sneakers ended up creating an easy sporty-chic or casual-cool outfit great for a laid-back day at work or school.

To complement the fairly simple outfit, I threw on my favorite silver rings.

This outfit should be a pretty easy start to juxtaposition in fashion. Later, there will definitely be outfits with more apparent cases of juxtaposition. Till then, I encourage you to get creative and be bold with it!

always,

Sarah.
